I just bought (still unopened) a Free Agent Desk, 500 GB external drive. The box says for Windows XP and Vista.

I need backup for Windows 7. Will the above work for 7 or should I return it and get another Seagate drive? I am a long time Seagate user and want to stay with them.

[...] However, my contact as Seagate was able to put these concerns to rest. The FreeAgent Go goes into standby mode when not in use (and the light can be turned off in the Seagate Manager settings so that it’s not staying on either), and it’s total power consumption per year is between $1.50 and $2.00. She also sent me this great blog post, outlining some of Seagate’s green efforts. [...]

yeah i spoke to them when I was ready to get rid of shelves and shelves of cds I already had on my ipod (unlike randy I already downloaded my stuff, but it did take something like 4 days). the guy there said they've been doing the exchange for 4 years so i guess they're doin something right. i ended up opting for the ipod classic so it would fit all my music and i got it within a week. but i was pretty happy with the results.

Windows 7 compatability lists my Seagate hard drive and my Maxtor III 2.0 USB external as comapatible with downloads required. Yet they refer me to the Seagate web site which is no help at all. Where do I go for the required downloads? Windows 7 does not like my Vista NTFS, and yet I understand Windows 7 uses NTFS. What gives?

It's the real deal, for sure.

Last month I decided to give it a go after a friend raved about the whole thing to me and she got 64GB iPod Touch and $45 cash in exchange for her CDs and DVDs. I decided to try for an iPod Touch as well but I had to opt for the 8GB one instead of a larger one since I didn't have enough for them.

I called and received really friendly customer service and the whole process was simple. All I had to do was e-mail them my contact information and the number of boxes + how many CDs were in each box. That same day I received my shipping labels in my e-mail and I mailed my boxes out a few days later and about a week or so later... voila, iPod touch and all my music saved on DVDs.
